2-in-1 Cushion Blanket Sewing Tutorial

Materials:

• Blanket
• Cotton Fabric
• Zipper
• Pins
• Marking pen
• Tape measure
• Scissors
• Cardboard
• Iron

Directions:

Step 1

Fold your blanket into a small rectangle, then measure its length and width. Apply the measurements onto a cotton fabric and cut it out, using the edges of a cardboard, fold and crease all sides of the fabric inward by 1cm or 0.4 inches. Press with an iron as you go along. Open the corner of the folded fabric, mark the area where both crease meets, then fold it in a 90° angle or diagonally, and fold each side in makin sure that their seams are matching. Press the folded corner, then repeat the process in other corners. Fold it in half across and find the midpoint, open and fold it lengthwise, then find the midpoint as well. Spread open and fold it again across, measure the zipper around the open sides of the fabric and mark the center.

Step 2

Spread open the blanket and the fabric, then place the fabric on top of the blanket’s corner. Open and separate the zipper’s teeth, then match the midpoint mark of one zipper teeth to the midpoint of the fabric’s longer side. Place the zipper around the fabric and pin in place or baste. Repeat placing the zipper on the other side. Go to the outer edge of the fabric and from the midpoint mark, measure 1.5cm or 0.6 inches on each side, then fold both ends of the zipper on the outer edge in and tuck. Now go to the other side of th fabric, find the midpoint, measure 2cm or 0.8 inches on each side. Sew all around then attach the clasp, cut the excess zipper and tuck the ends. Finish sewing either by hand or machine.
