How to Straighten or Reshape Fake Flowers That Got Wrinkled
Ever wondered if you can still bring those squished or folded fake flowers back to life? Yes, you can! I’ll show you this simple trick that I used for this project.
I ordered this sunflower garland online and was so excited for them, but when I opened the package, the faux flowers were squished and smashed. They arrived in the worst condition. I didn’t want to use them like that so I did my research and found out that you can easily straighten or reshape the petals of fake flowers using one simple household gadget: a steamer.
I hadn’t expect the garland to arrive in that condition. All of the petals were folded and looked really bad. Don’t lose hope if you have the same problem! It’s an easy fix, I promise.
Start by grabbing some clothespins, clip hangers, and your trusty steamer. Once you have everything you need, start clipping the flowers to the clip hangers and hang them up. Steam the flowers for a few seconds. Once they’re warm, flatten the petals with your hands. Be careful, as they can get hot. For stubborn petals, I use a clothespin to hold them in place and then continue steaming until they flatten. It’s very easy and effective, give this hack a try!

How to Make a Sunflower Dress Costume
Learn how to make this cute sunflower dress and accessories.
Start by cutting the flowers from the garland. If you’re using fake flowers with individual stems, make sure to cut the stems as close to the flowers as you can flat as you can.

Lay your dress or top on a flat surface and plan the arrangement of the flowers. The number of flowers you’ll need will depend on the size of your clothing and how you want to arrange them.

Once you’ve decided, take a flower, add hot glue to the back, and glue to your dress.

Repeat the same steps with the remaining flowers. I also recommend gluing the petals to keep them in place even when worn.

For the hair accessory, you can choose to fill the headband with sunflowers or just use one sunflower. I decided to just use one sunflower and glued it to the side. Use hot glue and E6000 to keep the flower in place.

The shoes already look perfect for the dress with their net design, but I wanted to tie the whole look together, so I glued a sunflower on each shoe. This totally upgraded the look of the shoes, a simple hack you can try with your old pair.
