To make this block, you need to sew half-square triangles and bar blocks. If you already made them before, this quilt project will be a breeze. Just assemble them together and you have the block. Easy Churn Dash Quilt Block

  • 1 solid layer cake
  • 1 printed layer cake
  • 1 solid charm pack
  • 1 yard of inner border
  • 2 yards of outer border

How to Make a Churn Dash Quilt Block

Step 1:

Get one colored layer cake and one white layer cake. Place them right sides together and cut them into fourths. Set aside two pairs. Take the 2 pieces of the white squares and fold them in half diagonally to make a crease. Place them back on the top of the colored squares and sew a 1/4″ on either side of the pressed lines. Cut the excess and press them open. Trim them into 4 1/2″ squares.

Step 2:

On the other two pairs, sew on both sides of the charms and cut them in the middle. Press them open.

Step 3:

Lay a white charm square in the middle., then place the units from step 1 and step 2 just like in the photo below. Sew them in rows first. Once done, sew the rows together to make the block. Snowball every corner of the block to make the diamond patterns.
