I’ve always wanted to make my own bubble storage basket but can’t find the right tutorial for me. Not until I stumbled upon this sewing tutorial and pattern by SwanFamilyPatterns on YouTube. It was easy and the instructions were clear, plus I had so much fun sewing this!
Step 1
First, download and print the pattern, then cut it out. Then, cut the exterior, lining, and fusible pieces according to the pattern. Press to fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of the exterior pieces, then fold them in half, and mark the center of the pieces. Sew the darts on the wrong side, then press the darts of the lining, and trim the darts of the exterior piece in half. Give them a good press. Fold the body pieces in half with the back edges together and their right sides facing, then pin them around in place. Sew the back side seams using a ½” seam allowance, leaving a 2.5″ opening in the lining piece for turning, then press the seams open. With their right sides together, pin the bottom circle to the bottom of the body, and line up the center marks. Sew them together with a ½” seam allowance, then trim away a half from the seam allowance, and repeat the same process for lining pieces.

Step 2
Make the hanging loop, fuse the interfacing to the wrong side, then fold in half lengthwise and press. Open and fold the long edges toward the center, press, fold in half again, and press it again. Sew 1/8″ from the edge, then fold the loop, and pin the raw edges to the top of the lining piece on either side of the back seam. Sew it in place with a ¼” from the edge, then turn the exterior basket right side out, and slide inside of the lining right sides facing. Match up the back seams and pin them in place, then line up and pin the entire top of the basket. Sew around the top edge with a ½” seam allowance, then turn the basket right side out through the opening making sure the loop pops out. Tuck in the seams of the gap and topstitch along the edge. Push the lining inside the exterior of the basket, then line up the tops, and pin around. Topstitch around with ¼” from the top edge, then give your basket one final press.
