With the holidays coming around the corner, homemade pie crust is a must need for me. I love baking pies during the holidays, and I’ve tried finding the easiest recipe. Grandma’s Hope pie crust recipe only requires 4 ingredients to make. Nothing beats a recipe that requires minimal ingredients. Plus, I already have these ingredients in my pantry since I bake a lot. Grandma Hope’s perfect pie crust recipe leads to her pies selling for $1000 at auction. I think it’s impressive to take on a recipe that is proven to work well. I love how she gives a helpful tip by using your index finger to make a nice pattern on the edge of the crust.
First, start with a bowl of all-purpose flour, add the vegetable shortening with a tablespoon and mix around with a fork. Continue to watch Eat at Joe’s tutorial on YouTube on how to mix and get the pie crust dough ready.
Next, once the pie crust dough is finished, transfer it to a baking mat that’s lightly dusted with flour. Mound the dough with your hands in a circle then use a roller to flatten out the dough. Make sure to keep adding flour to the baking mat so it doesn’t get stuck.
Overall, this is a simple recipe, and with the holidays coming up, this is perfect to add to my pie recipe list. Making pie crust isn’t as hard, but when I’m lazy, I buy the premade ones. However, it would save me a couple of bucks if I made them homemade, and it would look more authentic. I love how Grandma Hope adds a design on top of her pie crust. It looks like the perfect pie crust recipe.
