I was watching HGTV and one of the homes Chip and Joanna Gaines flipped, JoAnna had a special surprise for the owners. She had this made up for the owner (who had expressed her interest in this hobby). Joanna, who always does something extra special for the owners, had a special rod iron holder made that had several container holders built into it. Not only did it look cool hanging on the kitchen wall, but there are so many benefits from having this available to you!

I’m sure you’ve heard this before “If you’re going to grow one thing, grow herbs.” You’ll be rewarded with exceptional freshness and flavor, changing meals into something that tastes like it was made by a Chef! No more bags of wilted, unused bunches of something unrecognizable in the crisper — instead gather what you want when you need it. I have done this and cannot begin to tell you what a difference it makes in the flavor of the meals I prepare!

So which herbs to grow, where to grow them and what to grow them in? Just ask yourself which plants you reach for most, parsley, chives, basil, mint and you have your answer!

Most herbs can be grown in containers indoors and many of the tender varieties such as cilantro, parsley, basil and marjoram can thrive in in mason jars. Making a garden out of canning jars is perfect for a windowsill and the touch of green looks great.

To make sure I have proper drainage for my herbs I put pebbles and rocks in the bottom, before adding the dirt and the plants.

Watch how Tiffany Malone does this in her step by step tutorial so you can get to planting some delicious herbs too!
