This dry weather has been wreaking havoc on my hair and skin, lips included. When my lipstick began looking like caked on crayon, I knew it was time for some major exfoliation. I searched all over for a reasonably priced lip scrub in my area but I came up empty-handed. And, I couldn’t wrap my brain around spending $10 (plus shipping) for the fancy ones online.
After a little research, I found out the majority of lip scrubs are made from sugar, to exfoliate, and oil, for moisture. DIY to the rescue! This super easy recipe took literally 3 minutes to make and cost me $0 dollars because the ingredients were already in my pantry. If you have not yet tried DIY sugar scrub, you absolutely have to – it is surprisingly simple to make, yet amazing. The sugar acts as an exfoliant to smooth chapped, dry lips, while also tasting great. The coconut oil is a super moisturizer that helps the sugar work. Your homemade lip scrub can be flavored to your specifications, and it is super quick and easy to make at home, you will probably want to make several flavors like I did. This recipe is for lemon honey drop flavor but you can also buy other flavors of extract in the baking section of the grocery to make flavors like bubblegum, peppermint and chocolate.
