Find a spot away from your house, preferably on the driveway or on a stone patio.
Put the turkey in the basket into the pot and fill it with water just until the top of the turkey gets covered. Pull the turkey and the basket out. Get a stick and place it inside the pot. Mark the water level. Remove all of the water.
Completely dry your turkey using a paper towel. Make sure to dry the pot too.
Set up the pot and propane at the spot. Fill your turkey fryer with peanut oil up to the mark. Turn on the propane and let it come to 350F.
Marinate and season your turkey depending on your preference. Just remember that some of it will wash off a little bit when placed in the oil.
Set up the turkey in your turkey fryer.
Wear heavy-duty rubber gloves and a long thick apron.
Turn the oil off, then lower the turkey. Once you get the turkey safely in the pot, turn the flame back on, then put the lid on. Keep an eye on it. Make sure the temperature is about 350F. It will take 3 to 4 minutes per pound. If you have a 10-pound turkey, it will only take 35 minutes.
Turn off the gas, then slowly raise the turkey out of the boiling oil. Place the basket on a wire rack on top of a baking sheet. Check the temperature if it’s 165F in the breast meat and 175F in the thigh meat. Be extra careful as it will be hot.
