Choose two strips of the same colors for the center band, then choose one color for the center and another for the star points. For the first set, Jenny picked 2 blue strips, 1 pink strip, and 1 yellow strip. Do that for the whole roll.
Take the first set. Sew a blue and pink strip together with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Open and press to the blue side. Do the same for the other blue and yellow strips. Blue is the band color, yellow for the outer, and pink for the star in the middle.
Stack the two pairs together with the blue strips on the same side. Lay the edge of the 45-degree ruler to the edge, then make a cut. Next, cut 2 1/2″ units.
Arrange them in pairs just like in the photo below. Sew them in pairs making sure they are matched up. Press it flat.
Get the background fabric and cut four pieces of 6-inch squares. Cut each one on the diagonal. Next, cut four pieces of 8-inch squares. Cut each one on the diagonal.
Arrange 2 small background triangles, 2 big background triangles, and 2 colored unit pieces just like in the photo below to make the quarter of the block. Repeat to make 3 more.
Arrange the four quarter blocks together to make the final block.
