Topping
Step 1
Remove the crusts and crumble the bread, then put them in a large bowl, add the milk, and mix them until thoroughly combined. Set it aside and let it stand for about 10 to 15 minutes until the bread has soaked in most of the liquid.
Step 2
In a large bowl, add the beef and pork, then break them apart using 2 forks, and then add the salt, black pepper, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, olive oil, parmesan cheese, parsley, eggs, and the breadcrumb mixture.
Step 3
Mix everything until well combined, then wrap the bowl with plastic, and place the mixture in the refrigerator to chill for about 1 hour. Preheat your oven to 400°F, then lightly grease a roasting pan or baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or butter, and set it aside.
Step 4
Take the mixture out of the refrigerator, then divide it into 4 equal parts, and shape each into a ball. Place them in the prepared pan, then bake them in the preheated oven for about 40 to 45 minutes or until the internal temperature has reached 160-165°F.
Step 5
Remove the meatballs from the oven, then spoon the tomato sauce over them evenly, and sprinkle both cheese on top. Put the meatballs back in the oven, then let them bake for about 5 to 10 minutes or more until the cheese has melted, and garnish with parsley. Serve and enjoy!
