And it may look complicated to do, but I’m telling you, it’s one of the easiest quilts you’ll ever do. What are you waiting for? Try this today and see for yourself! Watch the video tutorial below to learn the easy to follow instructions.
To start, cut your 10″ squares and 2 1/2″ x WOF strips using your colored yardage. Now, take one 10″ square and two strips at 2 1/2″ x WOF of your darker shade and one of the lighter. Subcut the darker strips into 2 1/2″ x 10″ strips, 2 1/2″ x 14″, and 2 1/2″ x 16″. For the lighter shades, subcut them into 2 1/2″ x 12″ and 2 1/2″ x 14″. Then, place two 2 1/2″ x 10″ strips to the one side and top of the 10″ square. Sew these two on, pressing in between. Next, place one 2 1/2″ x 12″ light color and one 2 1/2″ x 14″ on top of the darker strips, sew, then finally, add one 2 1/2″ x 14″ and 2 1/2″ x 16″ on top of the lighter strips. Sew and press nicely.
Make two more of the same color, then just repeat the above steps to make more blocks in other colors. Now, cut 16″ square from your background fabric, then cut this square in half diagonally. Set these pieces in between the blocks to fill the gap once you lay them up. Now, assemble the blocks in rows, fill in the gaps with the halved 16″ squares, and continue this until you complete the quilt top.
