You can never go wrong with pork chop and gravy! My mother always used to cook this growing up, but I never learned how to make it. So, last month, I searched for recipes online and found this recipe by Cooking With Tammy. I made it at home for dinner and my family agreed that it was the best smothered pork chop and gravy. The sauce is so flavorful and is definitely the star of this recipe.

Making this recipe is straightforward. You can adjust the seasonings based on your preference. If you want it to be extra spicy, you can add more paprika. Make sure you taste as you go when you cook this at home. It comes very easily and is perfect to pair with mashed potato, white rice, soups, or even pasta. If you are craving for smothered chops, definitely go for this recipe.
Start by seasoning your pork chops with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, montreal chicken seasoning, and creole seasoning. Rub the seasonings into the meat.
Dredge the pork chops lightly with flour, then shake of any excess.
Add a generous amount of oil into a skillet over heat. Once hot, carefully add the pork chops. Cook until golden brown on each side. Once done, remove and set aside.
Remove the oil from the pan, leaving a small amount for the gravy. Add sliced or chopped onion and saute for one minute, then mix in the flour.
Add the broth and water and continuously stir until the gravy is smooth and there is no clumps.
Mix in the chicken bouillon powder, garlic powder, and paprika. Make a taste test and adjust seasonings if needed. Allow the gravy to slightly thicken.
Bring back the pork chops. Make sure they are submerged into the gravy. Take some of the onions and add to the top of the pork chop. Lower the heat to low and cover with a lid. Let it simmer and cook all the way through. Check periodically, making sure to stir.
Remove from the stovetop and serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
