A couple of weeks ago, we had our porch newly renovated, I loved its current look, and it’s easily one of my favorite areas in the house. So, I figured it may be a good idea to install a swing to relax at while having a snack or reading.

Initially, I thought it would be pretty difficult to build a porch swing but luckily I found a simple tutorial on YouTube by DIY MAN. The good thing about this project aside from it being easy to build, is the fact that it only requires basic tools, and you can finish it in as fast as 3 hours or even less!
Step 1
First, work on the frame of the swing’s seat by cutting the 2x4s, then attach them by applying some wood glue first, and proceed to attach the screws. Build the seat frame, then attach them to the back of the seat, and make sure to line them up with the middle braces. Attach the left and right sides on the outside edge of the seat frame, then move on to the next step, and start building the armrest.
Step 2
Curve the edges by tracing the bottom of a spray can and cutting it out, then attach the armrest to the sides. Assemble the back of the swing, then attach them with gaps at 2¼ inches evenly, and proceed to make the seat top using 1x4s.
Step 3
Attach the seat top the same way you did with the back of the swing this time with ½ inch gaps, and then finish the porch swing with wood stain or paint. Attach the hook screws and hanging chain, then hang the swing, and you’re done!
