Each block measures 8″, and the finished quilt measures 72″ x 72″. There are so many things you can do with this block. You can turn it into a table runner, wall hanging, placemat, pillow cover, baby blanket, and lots more. Learn how to make this gorgeous block using 2.5″ squares of precut fabric, also known as jelly rolls.

Take one background strip, leaving it folded, then put a folded print strip on top. Trim the selvage edge. Cut 2 1/2″ twice, then cut 4 1/2″ rectangles twice. Keep them in piles.
Take your 4 1/2″ rectangles and 2 1/2″ squares that are contrasting and 2 1/2″ white squares. Fold the squares into half diagonally to make a crease. Sew a contrasting square onto the white rectangle and sew a white square onto the print rectangle directly on the creases. Make sure they are going the same direction. Once done, trim the excess 1/4″ away from the seams.
Arrange in pairs just like in the photo below. Sew them together.
Assemble the block just like a four-patch. Sew them together and press it flat. Repeat with the other pairs.
You need 7 rows with 7 blocks each. Sew them in rows first. Once done, sew the rows together.
