So, what is cranberry sauce made of? If you are looking for the most basic version, all you need is cranberries, water, and sugar. But if you want to spice up the flavor, you can add other ingredients, like ground ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon. There are flavor variation recipes below that you can choose from – just scroll past the cranberry sauce recipe. Each one is different but equally amazing.
Start by rinsing cranberries and check each piece. Discard any cranberry that is soft.
In a medium saucepan, add 12 ounces of rinsed cranberries, 1/2 cup of water, and 1 cup of sugar. Mix everything to combine. Cover the saucepan with the lid and turn the heat to medium. Cook the mixture until it boils and the cranberries start to pop.
Once boiling, transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor. Blend the mixture until smooth. If you want chunks, pulse it instead.
