These Grandma Barb’s southern buttermilk biscuits by Divas Can Cook are the best I have ever tried. They turned out so soft, flaky, and moist. I am sure your family will ask for more once they try just one biscuit! It’s easy to make and better than the ones in the restaurant. Read on or watch the video below for full instructions.

Start by preheating your oven to 425F.
Get a large bowl, and add the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and sugar. Sift together until well combined.
Using a pastry cutter, cut in butter-flavored shortening. Next, grate the butter directly into the bowl and toss occasionally.
Add the buttermilk and mix until the dough is wet and sticky.
Generously flour your work surface, then place the dough. Sprinkle a bit of flour on the dough and your hands. Gently knead and fold the dough. Add a bit more flour if needed, but not too much, just enough to make the dough manageable.
Fold the dough several times to create layers. Next, pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
Dip the biscuit cutter into flour and cut out the biscuits. Transfer them to a pan with the sides touching. After that, brush tops with a very light coating of mayo.
Place inside the oven and bake for 14 minutes or until the top is golden. Once done, remove from the oven and brush the top with butter. Serve warm and enjoy!
