Kids often have a lot of energy and are super active which makes it difficult for them to stay at home and not play outdoors. However, you can still actually let them have fun and keep their bodies active by playing indoors! Just like this DIY maze by Hallmark Channel on YouTube that is made out of cardboard boxes. Not only are you exercising them physically but also mentally through the obstacles that the maze has. What’s even better is that you can change the location of each box which can make the maze different every time.
Step 1
Collect some cardboard boxes of the same sizes and a few tall or long and smaller ones for the obstacles. The first thing that you have to do is to map out how you want to set up the maze, then figure out where the cut for all your doors should be located. Next, draw a decent size door on the box, then cut it out with an X-Acto knife, and do this for the rest of the doors. You can use the cutout piece as a template to make the doors similar to each other.

Step 2
Once you’re done cutting out all of the doors, you can start connecting them. Start setting up your maze by laying the boxes however you want and according to your layout plan, and connect them by attaching binder clips to the top of the boxes, and tape inside. You can add obstacles using tall or long boxes and cut circles at the top or you can use smaller boxes instead to block some doorways so that they have to use another way out. Create maps inside with a “you are here” mark for an additional fun factor, and you’re all done!
