Don’t throw your old worn-out jeans away, repurpose them instead into this beautiful quilted bag with 2 compartments. It’s an easy and wonderful tutorial by Miarti -Reuse on Youtube. Read on to learn the step-by-step instructions.
Get your old jeans and create 96 pieces measuring 3.5 in by 3.5 in using the pattern.
Lay 8 different pieces horizontally and use a pin to attach them all. Then quilt all of the box fabrics. Make another one and sew the top edges to the bottom of the first one. Do the same process and make 4 more layers. Once you have quilted the 48 pieces together, sew all of the sides of the boxes. Make another with the remaining pieces.
Flip the jeans fabric over with the sewn part showing and place the lining on top. Flatten it using iron and place another fabric on top. Sew all of the edges. Do the same for the other one.
Get the 2 pieces of 14.18 by 6.7 inches of fabric and lay them over one another. Fold and press in half using an iron. Open it up and fold the top and bottom parts toward the center line. Fold and press it again in half. Then sew the edges. Make another strip doing the same process.
Get the strips. Measure 2.8 inches from both ends and mark them. Fold the strips in half on the middle part between both of the marks and sew them for the handles.
Place each of the handles on the top of the quilted jean fabrics then sew it. Once done, lay the first quilted jean with the right side facing up and place on top the second quilted fabric right side facing down. Place the 2 rectangle fabrics measuring 24.4 in by 19.3 inches with the ride sides facing each other on top of the quilted fabric. Get your 4.5 in by 4.5 in pattern and trace on the bottom right and left side. Then cut it. Remove the 2 pieces of 24.4 in by 19.3 inches and sew the left, right, and bottom edges of the quilted fabrics. Then make the box corners.
Get 2 pieces of 16.5 in by 24.4 in jean fabric. Measure 3.15 inches on both sides and make diagonal lines from the top corners. Cut the lines. Flip it over and cut 0.6 in by 0.6 in on both bottom corners. Then sew the top edge. Place it inside the two 24.4 in by 19.3 in. Fold and sew them together. Make a boxed bottom.
Sew the edges of the lining on the top edges of the quilted bag. Then sew the box corners. Once done, pull the right side out and sew the top edges again.
Add buttons to the inner part of the bag for it to close.
