Watermelon is one of my favorite fruits, so I was so excited to find this video tutorial by Dave Hax, on YouTube, that explains how to turn a watermelon into a swan. This watermelon cutting method enables you to serve a delicious watermelon to your guests and also have an amazing centerpiece. You start by picking the ideal watermelon that is ripe. You know watermelon is ripe by looking at the bottom of the watermelon to see if it is fairly pale and then you will look for a bright green color about half the way down your fruit. The skin of the fruit from the mid-half upwards should have a green color and the watermelon should smell very strong on watermelon flavor. You will begin by cutting the melon along the lines of the natural wing shapes in the skin near the top. Repeat this pattern until your watermelon is cut all the way around. You want to go all the way to the center so you can pull out the top easily.
In this video tutorial by Dave Hax, on YouTube, you will learn how to make this watermelon swan in a few easy steps. You will begin by cutting the wings of the swan by following the simple instructions in the video.
Then, you will cut the head of the swan and set it in the groove. This lovely idea looks amazing.
