Are you looking for a stash-buster quilt project? Make this 8-minute quilt block from my sewing room on Youtube! I’m telling you, this was the easiest quilt block I’ve ever made, and I got to use a bunch of my scraps! It’s one of my favorite projects, and I could unleash my full creativity when it comes to designing the pattern. My go-to is the super scrappy version, but you can totally make it cohesive and add same-size scraps. I just prefer the scrappy version so I could use the whole fabric scrap. This would make a great lap blanket or even a personalized gift for your loved ones! Watch the video tutorial below for the step by step instructions.

Materials:

  • 8″ x 8″ cotton fabric foundation
  • fabric scraps
  • one 2″ red square

Directions:

Step 1

Place a 2″ red square on the center of the foundation fabric, then add scrappy strips all around. Sew them one by one, then press open each piece. It’s up to you how would you place the scraps and design the block, but the scrappier the better.

Step 2

Continue doing this until you fill-up the entire fabric foundation with the fabric scraps. Once you are finished, trim the excess fabric along the edges. After this, add triangles to the corners that didn’t quite get covered with the fabric scraps.
