Drafts can add up to 30% of your winter utility bill. So using a draft stopper is an inexpensive way to save up during the whole winter season.

#2 Ceiling Fans

Ceiling fan during the cold season? It’s actually an efficient way to heat a room during winter. Running it clockwise at a low speed will draw up the cooler air from the floor, and push the warm air down from the ceiling.

#3 Windows

Add a shrink wrap to your windows. This insulating plastic easily adheres to your windows and can help you save bucks on those heating bills. (Just remove it when the weather is finally warmer.)

#4 Water Temp

Decreasing your water temperature down to 120 degrees can help reduce water heating by up to 10%.

#5 Furnace

Make sure to check your furnace’s filter every month, especially during the cold months.

#6 Thermostat

During winter, 50% to 70% of your bill goes towards heating, so every degree you lower your temperature means money is saved. So make sure to turn your heat down when you’re not home for long periods of time.

#7 Get Cozy

Putting up a heavy blanket can add up to 4 degrees of warmth so bundle up and get cozy!
