I think most of us want our home decor to look like those pictures in the home magazines, but we’re not sure how to do that. We especially need to know how to arrange our books and accessories on those bookshelves to achieve that professional look like we see in magazines and on TV.

Well, this is exactly what this post is about and in the tutorial, I’ve attached below, she shows us how we can achieve that decorator look.

An Interior Decorator came in and decorated my daughter’s new home, after she moved in, and the way she arranged the bookshelves was incredible. That’s when I got really intrigued with learning how to arrange accessories and books to achieve the best look.

I especially love the way she places a stack of books, horizontally, in the middle of a shelf and puts a cool accessory in the center of the books, then on another shelf she stands the books upright, placing something taller beside them, leaving some space around the books and the accessory she chose. Keep in mind that books are an important asset to arranging book shelves to get the perfect look!

Whether you collect birdcages or buttons, sculpture or shells, pottery or teacups, any collection you love deserves the pride of a special place in your home. Plus, there’s power in numbers…anything looks better as a collection. The different sizes, shapes and colors play off each other, and grouping a collection together gives it emphasis. Gather up your treasures around the house and mass them for a stunning display.

Remember the 5 tips:

  1. Arrange by color
  2. Leave space
  3. Go horizontal
  4. Accessorize
  5. Finish with lighting

Watch how this lady with Lamps Plus does this in her tutorial so you can get some great tips for arranging your special items on your bookshelves. Update your shelves and create a great new look!
