First Block

Cut four 3 & 1/2″ x 3 & 1/2″ squares. (one in a dark shade, two in a medium shade, and one in a light shade.) Next, lay the squares in a gingham pattern, put each row, right sides together, and sew. After this, sew the rows together to make the block. For the next block size, cut four 4 & 1/2″ x 4 & 1/2″ squares. Lay them in a gingham pattern and sew them all together.

Second Block

Cut several 3 & 1/2″ x desired length strips. For each 3 & 1/2″ strip, cut two white strips, 1″ x desired length. Lay one 3 & 1/2″ and place one white strip each on top and bottom. Pin to secure, sew, then press open. Snip off the excess. Cut as many 4 & 1/2″ x 4 & 1/2″ squares as you can from each strip set. Repeat the same process for the remaining fabric strips. After this, you’ll end up with a bunch of 4 & 1/2″ x 4 & 1/2″ squares with different fabric designs. Lay these squares in alternating positions, then sew them together.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
