I’ve found that I’m going through paper towels at an incredibly fast pace and, when you use them like my family and I do, they get pretty expensive!
A couple of years ago, my husband and I had committed to getting rid of paper towels in our home. We just decided that they were too expensive and wasteful… after all, how much extra effort does it take to throw a cloth in the wash?
I ran across a photo of the “unpaper” paper towel on Pinterest and found this tutorial to make them. I actually saw being sold online for $68! Whew! Just think of how much you’ll save by making these yourself!
Now I’ve replaced my paper kitchen towels with this cute reusable alternative. I love that I no longer waste paper towels and have an eco-friendly alternative, a cute one, too! I made 12 and each towel is made from a cotton print (and you have a wide variety of choices) and backed with a coordinating terry cloth. What fun I had getting to use some fabric remnants I now get to see every day in my kitchen! Each side has 3 snaps for support and easy connecting. Snap all your towels together and they can be rolled onto a paper towel holder. Brilliant!
They are super absorbent, very strong, and completely machine washable! They beat Bounty any day of the week! Hmmm, maybe I need to do a commercial! LOL! Although, I do keep a roll of paper towels handy for when I’m painting canvas’s because I don’t want to muck them up with paint!
