I was in need of one of these desperately, but could never remember to buy one when I was out. Then I ran across this easy tutorial for sewing one and talk about being relieved! Plus, I saved some money by making it!
Having made this, my life is much easier without having to juggle my purse, drink and a yoga mat! The brilliant thing she does, in her tutorial, by cutting up a pair of pants, to make her yoga bag, not only repurposed a pair of old pants, but she didn’t have to buy fabric!
This bag is designed for ease – mat slides in easily and there is no fussing with a closure, with the simple drawstring at the end of the bag. It has a comfortable strap that slings across the back or shoulder (or hand carry). She also added a convenient pocket to put your keys, sunglasses and cell phone in.
An adjustable strap would be a nice touch if you so choose, but this one-size-fits-most has been road tested on quite a few different body types, plus it’s simple to make.
Before I made my yoga mat bag I had a fabric strip tied around my mat and it was a real pain. It’s amazing how this little DIY project has freed me from so much frustration! You don’t realize how something like this can make such a difference in the way you feel, by the time you make it into your yoga class.
