As much as I love the Winter season, there are days that it’s just too cold. Luckily, these tips from But First, Coffee on Youtube will help me get through the season this year. These tips may be simple, but they’re effective and will surely make a difference. Learn the following tips below and stay warm, combat the cold, and keep your home cozy.
Seal up any drafts in your house. It’s going to keep the cold out and the warm in. Using a candle, you can easily find any drafty spots whenever it flickers. Seal drafts with weatherstripping tape.
Invest in a space heater because you can just put it into the place where the whole family hangs out instead of heating up the entire floor.
First, make a DIY humidifier with a pot of water. Place it on your stove and put it on a low setting. It will slowly keep the water and the water will slowly evaporate into the air. You can also do the same thing with a ceramic bowl on your fireplace or wood-burning stove. Second, you can also consider leaving your door open after you take shower in the bathroom. Let all the steam escape into your house. Third, keep house plants because they always release moisture into the air.

Capture the heat from the sun. When the sunlight is coming directly into your windows, open up all the shades and let the sun come in. As soon as the sun passed over those windows, close up the window shades to help keep the heat in.
Take your electric blanket and spread it out over your couch and turn it on. It will warn up the entire couch and make it nice and toasty. You can also use this to warm up your clothes in the morning, just throw your clothes out on the blanket and turn them on for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Even if you’re using lots of thin layers, the air between each layer still acts as an insulator. Because it’s close to your body, each pocket of air between each layer is actually going to warm up to your body heat.
All you need is two of the tubes from inside of wrapping paper and an old pair of pantyhose or tights. Take your pantyhose and cut off one leg, then feed the two cardboard tubes into the pantyhose. Simply slide this underneath the door (one tube on the outside of the door and one tube on the inside.)
