I’ve been quilting for quite some time now, and whenever someone asks me for a beginner-friendly pattern, I always recommend this two by two quilt block from Cut and Create on YouTube. I also started out with this pattern, and it can’t be easier than it already is. The fabric requirements are also easy, so if you’re still not confident with your cutting, this quilt is perfect for you. I remember doing a lot of personalized quilts with this pattern. It’s so easy and looks good, even if it’s scrappy. But my favorite would be just solid colors as they look so clean and simple, just how I like my quilts.

So, even if you’re a seasoned quilter, you’ll find this quilt fun to make, especially if you need a quick-finish project. What are you waiting for? Try doing this quilt today. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions. Thanks to Cut and Create for this fantastic quilt tutorial.

Materials:

fabric A:

  • 2 – 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ squares (color of your choice)

fabric B:

  • 2 – 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ squares (color of your choice)

fabric C:

  • 4 – 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ squares (white)

Directions:

Step 1

To start, cut the fabric requirements accordingly and set them aside. Next, match up fabrics A and C, and fabrics B and C. After this, sew them down on the long side and press open. Once done pressing, lay them out with the other block turned vertically. Sew them together like this, then press open. Repeat these steps to create another unit.

Once you have two units, sew them together to create the block. Repeat these steps to create more blocks for your desired quilt size, then just sew those blocks together to create your quilt top.
