It’s perfect for last-minute gift ideas or if you’re just looking for a quilt project to pass some time. This pattern is one of my go-to, especially if I need a quick quilt or just want to try my new layer cakes. So, if you’re still unsure, try this pattern out; you won’t regret it. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions.
With each 42-count 10″ square, cut a 45-degree line from corner to corner, then cut another 45-degree line on one of the half-square triangles by using a 45-degree marking on your ruler. Repeat these steps to all of your 10″ squares and stack the pieces accordingly. After everything is cut down, take the bottom smaller triangle, and rotate your fabrics around. Once done, sew everything back together. First, sew the two smaller triangles together, then sew the larger triangle to the piece you just sewn. After sewing, trim the block down to 8 1/2″ square. Repeat these steps, sewing all the blocks together like this, then trim them all down to 8 1/2″ square.
Once you have all your blocks, lay them down to a 6 x 7 block layout. Start by rotating every other block 180 degrees. You’ll notice that scrappy diamonds will appear as you lay the top quilt. After you lay all the blocks out, sew them in rows, then sew those rows together to finish the quilt top.
