They are so moist, fluffy, and delicious. The cupcakes are soaked in milk syrup, then topped with whipped cream and strawberry, and sprinkled with cinnamon. It is so creamy and milky – the perfect dessert recipe.

Have you ever wondered why it was called tres leches? It literally translates to “three milks” because the recipe uses three different milk products. The milk syrup is a combination of heavy cream, condensed milk, and evaporated milk, making these cupcakes heavenly and delicious. They are light, airy, and decadent. Egg yolk mixture:

Make the egg yolk mixture. In the bowl of your stand mixer, add the egg yolks and caster sugar. Whisk until well combined. Scrape down the sides and whip until pale. Transfer to a bowl.
Add milk and vanilla essence to the egg sugar mixture. Mix well.
Mix in the self rising flour and salt using a rubber spatula.
Whip the egg whites until until stiff peaks. Add to the egg yolk mixture and gently fold using a rubber spatula. Do not overmix it.
Line a 6 cup mini cupcake tin with cupcake liners. Fill each one about 3/4 full with the mixture. Place inside the oven and bake around 20 minutes at the preheated oven.
Make the milk mixture. Add the milk, heavy cream, and condensed milk in a cup. Mix until well combined.
Poke holes on the cupcake using a skewer. Gently pour the mixture into the top of the cupcake. Let them absorb the mixture. Once absorbed, pour the mixture again.
Make the whipped cream. In the bowl of your stand mixer, add the heavy cream and icing sugar. Whisk until fluffy. Top each cupcake with the whipped cream.
Add sliced strawberry on top upside down then sprinkle cinnamon.
