Trash cans that are not properly cleaned and taken care of can affect your kitchen or the whole house, too. Since the garbage that we dump in the trash can differs from dry and wet, plus, the leftover food that may still be stuck in the packages that we threw out can be a breeding ground for bacteria. This bacteria build-up is what causes the garbage to smell really bad and it doesn’t stay there as it makes your whole kitchen or house have the same odor, too. So, it’s very important to clean and empty the trash can regularly, but to give it a little boost and to cancel the bad odor as well, here’s a genius and neat hack by Smart Fox on YouTube that is sure to be your new go-to trick!

Materials:

  • Mouthwash, any kind you prefer

The first thing that you have to do is to empty or to make sure that your trash can is all clean and empty, then line it up with a trash bag nicely, and grab a cotton pad. Apply the mouthwash and wet the cotton pad, then dump it on the trash can, and close the lid if there’s any. Now, whenever you open the trash can to dump some trash, you’ll be greeted with a fresh smell instead of the usual smell of garbage. The cotton pad will dry out eventually, but when it gets wet again, especially if you dump wet or moist garbage, the mouthwash will be activated again which will bring back the nice and fresh smell, and at the same time cancel bad odor. You can also do this again if it doesn’t smell anymore, repeat as needed.
