2. Compost tea

Don’t have a compost-pile? You can still use it to feed your garden. Just toss the peels into a bucket full of water and let it sit for a few days. Mix one part of the banana peel compost tea with five parts of fresh water and use this to feed your plants about once per week instead of your normal watering.

3. Dried peel fertilizer

Dry your banana peels and grind them. Just add them directly into your garden-soil by sprinkling on the side or gently incorporating into the dirt.

4. Banana peel spray

To make this spray, you need banana peels, egg shells, epsom salt, and water.

Dry the banana peels and egg shells first. Once they are dry, grind them. Add the peels and shells to a spray bottle, along with epsom salt, then fill with water to the top. Spray to your plants as needed.

5. Livestock feed

Ground up dried banana peels can be added to feeds. Just be sure to thoroughly clean the peels of any wax or pesticides before drying.

6. Banana peel vinegar

Add your peels in a mason jar and fill it with water so they are submerged. Cover it with a cloth and rubber band. Set aside and let it sit for a week.

After a week, remove the peels and allow the water to sit, covered, until the mixture ferments into a vinegar.

It will take between 4 to 6 weeks, depending on weather conditions.

If it seems potent, dilute it with water before using.
