I’m going to be honest – I used to make some of these mistakes before and always wondered why my clothes had detergent residue. I learned what I’ve been doing wrong when I saw these tips by Consumer Reports. I saved a lot of money, plus my clothes are always properly cleaned!
Did you know it can irritate sensitive skin? It can also leave a layer of residue on your clothes and reduce the absorption of your towels. I used to have rashes before and didn’t know the cause. It was so itchy! Someone advised me to stop using fabric softeners, and they disappeared. So, if you have family members who have sensitive skin, make sure you don’t use this product.
The reason for this is that you can get the same results with your washing machine. It involves less work and mess! Just turn it to rinse or extra rinse and the spin cycle without detergent.
Use more than the minimum amount of laundry detergent for most medium loads. We all know that it is concentrated. When you use a lot, it can leave residue on your clothes and machine which you don’t want to happen.
Do not put stained clothing in your dryer, until you know for sure that the stain has been removed. The heat from the dryer sets the stain, and it will be hard to remove it.
When you overstuff your washing machine, it doesn’t allow the clothes and the detergent to circulate well. Your clothes will not be cleaned properly, and you might see residue from the detergent when you do this.
