One of my favorite treats to make is an earthquake cake not only because it is very delicious, but the fact that it’s very easy and quick to make. You don’t even have to try to make your earthquake cake look perfect because just like its name, the final look of the cake is supposed to resemble an earthquake.

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F, then grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with a nonstick cooking spray, and set it aside for later. In a large mixing bowl, prepare the cake mix according to the package instructions and set it aside, then spread the coconut at the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top it with a layer of chopped pecans, then pour the batter evenly, and set it aside.
Step 2
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the softened butter cream cheese, salt, and vanilla extract, then beat them over medium-high speed until smooth and combined. Gradually add the powdered sugar while beating continuously until smooth, then spoon and drop the cream cheese mixture onto the cake batter, and smooth it as best as you can. Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top, then place it in the preheated oven, and bake it for about 45 to 55 minutes or until the center is set. Serve warm and enjoy!
