Sweet potatoes are a staple ingredient in all of my Thanksgiving dinners. Now that the holiday is nearing, I’ve been thinking about what else I could do with the rest of my stock of sweet potatoes in the kitchen. I’ve always liked making do with what I have leftover because first, it’s not wasteful, and second, it excites me to know that with one thing you can do many things. I searched online for interesting recipes that are quick and easy but also tasty. Old School Soul Food on Youtube provides just the right touch of soul food recipes for my Thanksgiving feast using sweet potatoes.
Ingredients for the Old School Sweet Potato Pie Recipe:
Directions:
The first thing you have to do for this recipe is preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then beat the eggs in a mixing bowl and add in the rest of the ingredients after the eggs are well-beaten. Combine the ingredients by beating for around 2 minutes. Pour the mixture into the pie shell. Pop it in the oven and bake for 55 minutes, or until you see the filling is set.
Take it out of the oven once baked and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then you can cut the piece to taste.
Ingredients for the Old School Glazed Sweet Potatoes Recipe:
Directions:
To make the glaze, put all the ingredients except the sweet potatoes in a sauce pot. Melt under low heat. Combine by stirring.
Slice the cooked sweet potatoes and place them in a baking dish. Pour the glaze all over the sweet potatoes. Then bake the dish in the oven for 10-15 minutes. When finished, remove it from the oven and set it aside to cool.
If you want some extra texture and sweetness, you can also add marshmallows as toppings.
