Sweet potato casserole is a classic popular Thanksgiving side dish at my family dinners. I still don’t know the answer if you eat it with the turkey or do you have it for dessert. Honestly, sweet potato casserole can be eaten however you like. It’s an interesting side dish that usually has marshmallows on top. Delish’s recipe on YouTube adds marshmallows and roasted pecans. It’s a creamy smooth dish with a crumble topping that gives the sweet potatoes some texture. However, some people might not like marshmallows on top so you can skip out. Whenever I make a sweet potato casserole, I love seeing the marshmallows get roasted on top because it’s such a beautiful presentation.
First, preheat the oven to 350F, and grease the 9 x 13″ baking dish with cooking spray. Roast the sweet potatoes in the oven for more flavor. Cook until the fork pokes through. In a large bowl, mash the sweet potatoes with a potato masher or food processor. Make sure the potatoes are cool and add in the rest of the ingredients.

Next, continue to watch the rest of Delish’s tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details. Coat the sweet potatoes with the streusel topping mixture, and marshmallows. Bake in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes.
In my opinion, sweet potato casserole isn’t a sweet potato casserole without the marshmallows on top. I’ve never had pecans in mine before, so it would be a new addition to my recipe when I make it.
