In a bowl, combine the milk, 1/2 tablespoon of instant yeast, 3 tablespoons of caster sugar, 1 egg, and 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Mix everything until well combined.
Add 2 and 1/4 cups of bread flour to the mixture and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix until it forms into a dough using a spatula.
Cover the bowl with a cling wrap and let the dough rise for about an hour until it doubles in size.
Punch the dough to deflate it. This helps to stop fermentation and reactivate the yeast.
Sprinkle some flour into your workspace and transfer the dough. Sprinkle some more on top. Fold it inwards several times until it forms a nearly round dough. Once done, flip it and flatten it.
Divide the dough into 9 parts. Get one of the pieces, sprinkle flour on top, fold it inwards and form into a ball. Do the same for the remaining pieces. Place them with enough spaces in between, cover them with a cling wrap or cloth, and let the dough rest for about 15 minutes.
Get one of the dough, flatten it out, and fold it again inwards to form a ball. Do the same for the remaining pieces.
Place all the dough into a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Cover with a cling wrap and let it rise for about 60 minutes.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 22 minutes. For the last 8 minutes, cover the pan with foil.
