Summer in the Park Quilt Using Jelly Rolls

If you are looking for an easy and beginner-friendly pattern, this summer in the park quilt is definitely it. Using your jelly rolls, you can create this beautiful double hourglass pattern by Missouri Star. It is very simple to make – all you have to do is sew three strips together and make two sets. Materials:

• 1 pack of printed jelly roll
• 1 pack of white jelly roll
• square ruler

Instructions:

Step 1:

Get one background strip and add two colored strips on each side. You can mix and match and pick whatever you want. This will be the first set. Sew them together with a quarter-inch seam allowance. Press them flat.

Step 2:

For the second set, place a solid strip on the center, then white strips on both sides. Sew with a quarter of an inch seam allowance.

Step 3:

Place the two sets on top of each other with the right sides together. They should match up. Sew a quarter of an inch on both sides. The fabric lines may not be exactly the same, but that’s okay as you will cut them later.

Step 4:

Take your square ruler, place it diagonally on top of the sewn strips, and line them up on the seam. Cut the diagonal, then move your ruler to the end of the diagonal line, lining up with the seam. Cut the diagonal again to make a block. Repeat with the remaining fabric. Press them open.

Step 5:

Get 4 blocks and alternate the blocks to make a double hourglass effect. Sew with a quarter of an inch seam allowance and press it open. Repeat with the other blocks.
