I’m so excited strawberry season is almost here and I’m already planning out numerous things I want to make with strawberries, my favorite fruit in the entire world. When I saw this excellent video by the Barfoot Contessa of the Food Network on Youtube, I knew I had to add this to my strawberry recipe list I am compiling for Spring strawberry season. In this recipe, the Barefoot Contessa will teach you how to make a shortcake from scratch and cut it in the middle to be filled with delicious whipped cream and fresh strawberries making one big strawberry shortcake that can be cut into slices, rather than small individual ones that have to be made on the spot. The ingredients for the actual cake make a lovely vanilla shortcake made with sour cream, but if you are looking to modify the recipe to make it super easy, you can use a box yellow or white cake and that will work perfectly well.
