Strawberry Country Cake Recipe

Strawberry Country Cake Recipe | DIY Joy Projects and Crafts Ideas

I’m so excited strawberry season is almost here and I’m already planning out numerous things I want to make with strawberries, my favorite fruit in the entire world. When I saw this excellent video by the Barfoot Contessa of the Food Network on Youtube, I knew I had to add this to my strawberry recipe list I am compiling for Spring strawberry season. In this recipe, the Barefoot Contessa will teach you how to make a shortcake from scratch and cut it in the middle to be filled with delicious whipped cream and fresh strawberries making one big strawberry shortcake that can be cut into slices, rather than small individual ones that have to be made on the spot. The ingredients for the actual cake make a lovely vanilla shortcake made with sour cream, but if you are looking to modify the recipe to make it super easy, you can use a box yellow or white cake and that will work perfectly well.

  • 1 1/2 sticks of real butter
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes

In the video by the Barefoot Contessa, you will be guided through the entire cake making process and then you will be shown how to slice the cake in half to add the filling.

Then you will be taught in great detail how to fill the cake with the whipped cream and how to cut and arrange your strawberries.

I cannot wait to make this, the Barefoot Contessa is my new hero.
