This platform bed made from plastic crates is the perfect storage solution. And the DIY tutorial by I Like Woodworking is amazing. It will make the project go by so quickly. The tutorial video down below will give you all the measurements and step-by-step instructions for the project.

Materials Needed For This DIY:

  • Plastic Storage Crates
  • Wood Planks
  • Screws
  • Nails
  • Metal Hinges
  • Drill
  • Nail Gun

Directions:

Step One

Set your plastic crates out in the shape you would like them to be. The best way to do this is to make a square with them, leaving the middle of the square empty. This project will work best if all the crates are the same size, but it’s not necessary. Lay the crates down with the open part to the ground.

Step Four

Once all the wood is attached to the bottom, trim out the edges of the wood with small pieces of wood trim. Use a nail gun to attach this.

Step Five

Flip the wood and crate over so you are now working with the open side of the crates.

Step Six

Cut and begin attaching planks of wood in a size to fit the middle of the crates. Next, create planks for each of the four sides of the crates. You will want to cut slots in each to attach hinges.

Step Seven

Attach hinges to each side of the crates to the bed can open for under the bed storage.
