I always loved elaborate quilt patterns for my projects, and one of my favorites is this stars and stitches quilt from Missouri Star on YouTube. Now this quilt may look complex, but it’s actually pretty easy with the help of the creative grids template; you’ll be surprised how quick this quilt is to put together. It’s also one of those patterns that is perfect for scrappy quilts. So, if you’re a beginner who is looking for your next project, you might want to try this quilt project. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions. Thanks to Missouri Star for this lovely quilt project. Make sure to check the channel for more quilt tutorials just like this.

Materials:

  • 1 pack of solid layer cake
  • 1 yard of quilt border fabric (includes sashing)
  • 3 1/2 yards of quilt backing fabric
  • 1/2 yard of quilt binding fabric
  • 1 creative grids – crazier eights template

Directions:

Step 1

To start, take five pieces of your layer cakes, stack them on top of each other, and then place the five-piece template over. (Make sure to follow the directions of the template.) Once done, start cutting off the pieces one by one, keeping the same pieces on the same stack together (label them with A, B, C, D, and E so it’s easier for you.)

Step 2

Now, start sewing the pieces together. (Make sure to re-shuffle the pieces so you’ll have different colors per block.) Once done, press all the units open, then sew the two halves of your block together to complete it. Repeat these three more times to make a big four patch, then sew these together to create the final block. Make more of these for your desired quilt size.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
