Easy Southern Style BBQ Beans Ingredients

  • 1 package of thick-cut bacon (cut into small pieces)
  • 1 cup of chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 28 oz cans of baked beans (drain one can)
  • 1 cup of BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup of ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke
  • brown sugar

 

How to Make Southern Style BBQ Beans

Step 1:

Add the cut bacon to a skillet and cook until crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel.

Step 2:

In the same pan, add the chopped onion and cook until softened.

Step 3:

Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.

Step 4:

Add the baked beans to the skillet. Mix until well combined.

Step 5:

Pour the ketchup sauce and BBQ sauce. Stir to combine. Let it come to a simmer.

Step 6:

Add the chili powder and brown sugar. Adjust the amount of brown sugar depending on your preference. Mix well. Bring back the crispy bacon bits and give a quick stir. Close the lid and let it simmer for 20 to 25 minutes. Make a taste test and adjust seasonings if needed.
