Southern Belle Quilt Block Tutorial

Materials:
fabric A:
- 1 – 6 7/8″ x 6 7/8″ square
- 1 – 7 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ square
fabric B:
- 1 – 6 7/8″ x 6 7/8″ square
- 1 – 7 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ square
Directions:
Step 1
To start, cut and label all fabric requirements for this project and set them aside. (You need two colors of fabric for this project.) Next, grab the white 7 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ square and the blue 7 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ square. Line them together, pin them to secure them, then cut them in half diagonally. Once done, stitch the pieces in the long edges, press them open, and trim the dog ears. After this, cut each from corner to corner. Now, line the other two remaining fabric squares and cut them diagonally. Stack the pieces by their color, then sew them with the half pieces you cut earlier to make the block.

Step 2
After sewing, press each piece open. Once done, lay the pieces down to create the southern belle block (refer to the image below for each placement of the block). After this, sew them in twos, press them, and then sew them together to finish the block.
