  • 4 cups of plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast
  • 5 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons of butter (room temperature)
  • 8.8 ounces of cream cheese
  • 6-7 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla
  • raisins
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 tablespoons of milk

Step 1:

Add 4 cups of plain flour, 1 tablespoon of yeast, and 5 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl. Mix the dry ingredients. Next, pour 1 1/2 cups of milk. Combine just until a dough forms then add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 cup of olive oil. Mix the dough to combine. It will be very sticky.

Step 2:

Transfer the dough to your work surface. Knead well and sprinkle some flour in between. Once done, form into a big round dough, place in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.

Step 3:

Transfer the dough to your floured work surface. Roll into a rectangular shape. Spread some softened butter on top of the dough.

Step 4:

In a bowl, put 8.8 ounces of cream cheese, 6-7 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla. Mix all ingredients using a spatula. Spread into the dough evenly.

Step 5:

Add the raisins on top of the cream cheese layer.

Step 6:

Start rolling the dough from the long side. Pinch the end of the roll. Once done, slice the rolls. You can use a floss to cut it or a sharp knife. Place them in a tray with spaces in between then cover for 15 minutes.

Step 7:

In a small bowl, combine the milk and egg yolk. Spread on top of the rolls.

Step 8:

Bake in preheated oven at 356 degrees F for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.
