If you are planning to make this pattern, I suggest using four solid colors just like the prints Jenny Doan used in her quilt. Make sure one of the colors you will use for the borders is light to make the stars stand out.

The tutorial is very easy to follow; It does not involve any difficult steps, so even if you are a beginner, you will still enjoy this project. Watch the video below for the full instructions. Here’s another quilt pattern for you: Morning Star Quilt

Easy Snowball Star Quilt Materials

  • 1 roll 2 1/2″ print strips (4 colorways)
  • 1 1/2 yards of background fabric (includes inner border)
  • 1 1/2 yards of outer border
  • 3/4 yard of binding
  • 4 yards of backing

How to Make Snowball Star Quilt

Step 1:

Separate the print squares in colors and make 2 pairs.

Step 2:

Take a 4″ background square for the center. Get the first pair of strips. Cut a 4″ strip and a 6″ strip from both colors. Get the 4″ and 6″ strips from the first color and sew them on the sides of the center square forming an L. Repeat with the other color on the other side.

Step 3:

Take 2 pieces of 2 1/2″ background square and fold in half diagonally to make a crease. Place on the colored corners where the two colors meet. Sew directly on the lines. Trim excess and press flat.

Step 4:

Repeat steps 2 and 3 three more times to make a total of four.

Step 5:

Arrange the four units just like in the photo below. Sew them together like a four-patch to make the block. Make 6 blocks of the same color.

Repeat the same steps for the other pair of colors and make 6 blocks.

Arrange the blocks alternately on each row. For the first row, start with the first block, then for the second row, start with the second block. Each row should have 3 blocks. Make a total of 4 rows for the whole quilt.
