Ingredients:

  • 2 lb lean ground beef
  • 16 oz mild taco sauce
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 1.25 oz mild taco seasoning packet
  • 16.5 oz can of refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided

Toppings:

  • shredded lettuce
  • sliced black olives
  • pickled jalapenos
  • diced avocado
  • sour cream
  • salsa

Directions:

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef, and cook until no longer pink. Once browned, drain the excess fat, and return it to the skillet. Next, prepare your slow cooker by adding two sheets of parchment paper to the bottom, then spray it with nonstick cooking spray. Back to the cooked ground beef, add 16 oz mild taco sauce, 3/4 cup of water, and 1.25 oz mild taco seasoning. Mix until well combined, then bring to a boil. Once boiling, simmer it for five minutes.

Step 2

Next, take eight pieces of buttermilk biscuits and cut each into six pieces. Transfer them to a large mixing bowl along with the ground beef mixture, then add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix everything together until combined. Transfer the mixture to the prepared slow cooker, cover it, and cook it on low for three hours or until the biscuit dough is cooked through. After three hours, remove the lid and sprinkle another cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Continue cooking until the cheese melts. Serve and enjoy!
