To make this recipe, you will need onion, pork shoulder chuck roast, salt, black pepper, paprika, chicken broth, BBQ sauce, liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic. You can use whatever BBQ sauce you prefer. The preparation time only takes a couple of minutes, making it the perfect dish for busy days. Serve it with mashed potatoes, bread, coleslaw, salad, or baked beans.
Add chopped onion to the bottom of the slow cooker.
In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of pepper, and 1 teaspoon of paprika. Mix until well combined, then sprinkle into the pork roast. Rub the seasoning into the meat, then place it on top of the onions.
Make the marinade. In a bowl, combine 1 cup of chicken broth, 1 cup of BBQ sauce, 1 tablespoon of liquid smoke, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 3 pressed garlic cloves. Stir until well combined. Pour the marinade over the seasoned meat.
Place the lid of your slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours. Once done, transfer the meat to a large bowl and remove any fat. Shred the meat using two forks. Pour any dripping from the crockpot over the shredded pork to taste. Before serving, brush the meat with warm barbecue sauce. Enjoy!
