This recipe by Whip It Up With Jay is the perfect meal idea if you’re looking for something to make for kids on a budget! It only requires about 10 ingredients to make and most are probably already available in your kitchen, plus, this can also be your new go-to recipe for busy days.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of rigatoni pasta
- 1 large onion
- 3 bell peppers
- 1 pound of mild Italian sausage
- 1 tbsp of minced garlic
- ¼ cup of white cooking wine
- 24 ounces of pasta sauce
- 1 tbsp of Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of black pepper
Directions:
Step 1
Place a large pot with water on a stove and bring it to a rolling boil, then sprinkle some salt, and drop the pasta cooking it according to the package instructions. Slice up a large onion as well as the bell peppers, then set them aside. Place a pan on a stove over medium heat, then drizzle some oil, and start cooking the sausages for about 3 to 4 minutes or until both sides are nicely seared. Remove the sausages from the pan and set them aside. Using the same pan, saute the bell peppers and onions until slightly translucent, then add the minced garlic, and give them a good mix.

Step 2
Pour the cooking wine, then mix them until well combined and let them cook for about 1 to 2 minutes or until the wine has slightly reduced before adding the pasta sauce. Mix them all together until well combined, then season them with some Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, or any seasoning of your choice. Mix them all together, then slice the sausages into smaller pieces, and add them to the pan. Bring the mixture to a simmer for about 3 to 4 minutes or more, then pour this all over the cooked pasta, and top with cheese and freshly chopped parsley. Serve and enjoy!
