Easy Rising Star Quilt Materials

  • 1 pack(42 pieces) of 10″ squares
  • 1 roll of 2 1/2″ strips

How to Make a Rising Star Quilt

Step 1:

Take one 10″ square and one 2 1/2″ strip. Place the end of the strip aligned to the top edge of the square about 2 inches away from the right top corner, then move the bottom of the strip so it is exactly on the bottom right corner. See the photo below for reference. You want to make sure that when you fold it back, it will cover the edge. Sew on the diagonal edge with a 1/4″ seam allowance.

Step 2:

Trim the excess strip. Set the seam and roll back the strip. Flip it over. Use the edge of the square as a guide. Trim the excess.

Step 3:

Take another strip in a different color. Rotate the block 90 degrees counterclockwise, and do the same process, but this time, place the strip 2 inches in from the left top corner. See the photo below for reference.

You need four blocks to make one star.

Step 4:

Arrange four blocks with the colors meeting in the center to make the stars.

You need 7 rows with 6 blocks each for a total of 42 blocks. Sew them in rows first. Once done, sew the rows together to make the quilt top. Quilt and add binding.
