Recently, I learned how to make rich and buttery toffee and it turned out amazing. It was so easy to make and only took less than 30 minutes of my time. Plus, it only required basic ingredients, so I made it right away. This treat by Preppy Kitchen is definitely a must-try recipe. Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chopped pecans or almonds
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of milk chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons of finely chopped pecans for topping
  • sea salt if desired

Instructions:

Step 1:

Place parchment paper on a 9×9 inch baking tray and sprinkle the bottom with chopped pecans. Spread it evenly then set it aside.

Step 2:

In a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat, add sugar, water, salt, and butter. Bring it to a boil while stirring frequently.

Step 3:

Once boiling, stir it occasionally until the mixture reaches 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 4:

Remove the mixture from heat and gently stir in the vanilla, then immediately pour it over the chopped pecans on the tray. Spread it to the edges and into a flat layer using a spatula. Set it aside to let it cool for about 2 minutes.

Step 5:

Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top of the mixture and cover it with foil for about 4 minutes until softened. Spread the cholate into a thin layer using a spatula then sprinkle finely chopped pecans and sea salt on top if desired.

Step 6:

Refrigerate for at least an hour before removing from the baking tray and cutting into pieces. Serve and enjoy!
