Ingredients:
- 0.67 lb of boneless chicken thigh (use the fatty ones)
For the marinade:
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of dark soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste (2 garlic cloves and 1-inch ginger – pureed or grated)
- 1 teaspoon of five-spice powder (star anise, cloves, fennel seeds, and cinnamon)
- pinch of white pepper
- 1 teaspoon of red food coloring (optional)

Instructions:
Step 1:
In a bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of honey, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of five spice powder, a pinch of white pepper, 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste and 1 teaspoon of red food coloring (optional). Mix until well combined.
Step 2:
Add the chicken and coat well with the sauce. Make sure it’s submerged in the marinade. Cover the bowl and place it in the fridge for at least two hours or overnight.
Step 3:
Get a baking pan and line it with aluminum foil. Place the chicken in the pan. Do not throw away the leftover marinade.
Step 4:
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 5:
Put the sauce in a saucepan over low heat and cook until it bubbles and becomes thick.
Step 6:
Slice the chicken into strips, place on top of the rice, then drizzle the sauce on top. Enjoy!
